Instead, they are mirrored in a life dedicated to the service of humanity. Few figures in the modern era embody this profound truth as transparently as Shaykh Muhammad Mahy Cissé.

Based in the sacred hub of Medina Baye in Kaolack, Senegal, Shaykh Mahy stands not only as an internationally revered spiritual guide and the official spokesperson for the Jammat al-Faydah (Tijaniyya order), but as a tireless champion for the poor, the orphaned, and the marginalized. For over a decade and a half, his expansive humanitarian blueprint has shown the world that true ma'rifah (spiritual gnosis) must always express itself through boundless mercy and unconditional charity.

Beside his responsibilities as a teacher of the inward sciences (spiritual guide), a scholar, Imam at the mosque. Shaykh Mahy has dedicated his life to transforming the socio-economic reality of Senegal. Recognizing that spiritual cultivation requires a dignified foundation of survival, he has initiated and sustained a comprehensive ecosystem of community care.

Preserving Sacred Knowledge: Under his tutelage, major institutions for Quranic memorization (Tahfiz) and formal Islamic boarding schools have been established. These institutions provide thousands of children from all over West Africa and the globe with rigorous academic schooling alongside spiritual nourishment, keeping the sacred heritage of their ancestors alive
Shielding the Vulnerable: Shaykh Mahy’s heart remains firmly with those whom society frequently overlooks. He has built dedicated sanctuaries and care networks taking care of orphans, providing them with housing, safety, clothing, and an education.
Dignity for the Forgotten: His daily and weekly initiatives feed the poor and provide direct, dignified financial and structural support to street beggars, helping them transition away from absolute destitution.
Healthcare as a Fundamental Right: Recognizing the severe medical deficits in rural Senegal, the Shaykh spearheaded the construction of a specialized hospital for the poor at Taiba Niasse. It was officially open on 7 September 2025. This healthcare facility ensures that high-quality, life-saving medical care is accessible to those who cannot afford private treatment, protecting the sacred gift of human life.

To look at Shaykh Mahy Cissé is to understand the true definition of adab as taught by our great sages: putting everything in its proper place. His life proves that the same hands that count the tasbih during the wazifah must be the very hands that feed the hungry, build hospitals, and shield the orphan.

The world changes, and the material needs of the global Ummah continue to shift. Yet, through his unshakeable trust in Allah and his profound love for the Prophet (ﷺ), Shaykh Mahy continues to show us that when we serve the creation for the sake of the Creator, the mirror of the heart is polished, and the barakah of the awliya flows unhindered

This sacred initiative bridges the hearts of believers in Southeast Asia with the impoverished families of West Africa. Executed under the direct, meticulous supervision of Shaykh Mahy and his trusted team on the ground, the Qurban campaign is far more than a seasonal ritual. It serves as a monumental logistical lifeline that distributes fresh meat and essential food packages to hundreds of thousands of needy families, widows, orphans, and students across remote villages.

Through this 14-year partnership, Sout Ilaahi’s community has become an active brick in the humanitarian fortress Shaykh Mahy is constructing in Medina Baye.
